Serenity Prayer

26 11 2016
“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,  the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardship as a pathway to peace; taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is; not as I would have it; trusting that You will make all things right if I surrender to your will; so that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with You forever in the next.”
Reinhold Niebuhr was using this prayer in 1934, as seen here. Some scholars believe that it dates back to 500 AD.
It is my believe that it follows the teaching of Jesus and the healing process we find in His teach, found in Matthew 5 etc.
Just as we find help in praying “The Lord’s Prayer” (taught to us by Jesus in Luke 11:2-4) we can also use this prayer to follow Jesus’ suggestion that we ask God for the strength to submit to His will, finding freedom & healing in Him.

Feel like talking? Please don’t hesitate to call me 410.929.1619. Here’s my video post this morning: https://youtu.be/6MS6xH8HO9M

Good morning, just wanted you to know that I’m praying for you.

We all have thoughts, emotions, and questions about this Presidential election. You’re not alone.
God is our provider. Jesus is our hope.
Let’s process together. You don’t need to have it figured out when we see each other. Remember you’re wired for relationships. You have a spiritual family in Baltimore that loves you!
We had a great Celebrate Recovery meeting last night! Life Groups meet tonight and this weekend. Join us at the Ethnos Conference Saturday (remember to register it will fill up). Sunday we’re going to pray for healing. Please bring a friend, neighbor, co-worker who needs healing. There’s uninterrupted time to pray starting at 9:30am Sunday morning. Please come, it will help you spiritually focus on Jesus, meditate on His word, find peace, and prepare for the week.
Let’s come together in life-giving relationships!
