March 6 Psalm 30:8-12 Mark 13:1-31 Leviticus 14

Please read the suggested passages, prayerfully consider them, and the questions below. My comments here may be helpful after those moments. The suggested daily reading is for the purpose of reading through the whole Bible within a year.

Reading the Bible is helpful in taking next steps to follow Jesus. It may not be easy and yet it can be rewarding. Digging into Scripture alongside people you know is a life-giving way to pursue answers together. We discover the love that God has for us has been expressed through Jesus.

  • What’s the plain simple truth of the verses you read?
  • Based on today’s reading, what is one thing God is saying to you?
  • What should you do about that truth?

March 6 Psalm 30:8-12 Mark 13:1-31 Leviticus 14
Psalm 30:8-12 God, I will thank You, out loud to other people, for the way you have brought joy out of my areas of grief and lament. King David writes a song for the day when the people will gather to dedicate their new house of worship. David offered thanksgiving for God’s rescue. He gave all of his personal savings for the construction of the Temple. He passed from earth and watched from Heaven as his son Solomon completed the Temple. He heard this song at the dedication. He watched as the glory of God filled the Temple, overwhelming the priests.
Mark 13:1-31 Jesus looks at the Temple and laments its coming destruction. The leaders of the Temple have rejected Him, the Messiah, the Son of God. He watched from Heaven (with David) as Psalm 30 was played that dedication day. Now there is great sadness. Jesus prepares His followers for a day when they would be persecuted for their faith in Him. He explains that it will bring the opportunity to preach Good News. The Good News of Jesus must be proclaimed. When Jesus returns everyone will know. We are to wait expectantly.
Leviticus 14 In Leviticus, the value of clean living and an examined life are seen as important for the whole community. This included their personal private lives and their homes. The priests are involved with natural and spiritual cleansing for each person their homes. Today as people mature in their faith, they should grow in understanding such principles. This includes the “priesthood of all believers” and the importance of spiritual cleansing. Each person and each home will benefit from this. Let’s pray through our homes in dedication to the Lord. We repent of sin and dedicate ourselves to be devoted followers of Jesus.
