September 6  Psalm 105:37-45  2 Corinthians 8:16-24; 9:1-5  Isaiah 10:20-34; 11; 12; 13

Please read the suggested passages, prayerfully consider them, and the questions below. My comments here may be helpful after those moments. The suggested daily reading is for the purpose of reading through the whole Bible within a year.

Reading the Bible is helpful in taking the next steps to follow Jesus. It may not be easy and yet it can be rewarding. Digging into Scripture alongside people you know is a life-giving way to pursue answers together. We discover the love that God has for us has been expressed through Jesus.

  • What’s the plain simple truth of the verses you read?
  • Based on today’s reading, what is one thing God is saying to you?
  • What should you do about that truth?

September 6  Psalm 105:37-45  2 Corinthians 8:16-24; 9:1-5  Isaiah 10:20-34; 11; 12; 13

Psalm 105:37-45

Our God delivered the Israelites from the Egyptians’ enslavement and made sure that they left with provisions, protection, and money. He led them to safety. God saved them. God loves them. God’s purpose included an ongoing relationship with them. God’s desire is that His children follow His guidance. How do you respond to this?

2 Corinthians 8:16-24; 9:1-5

Paul is sending Titus and a qualified team to encourage the church in Corinth. This team would ensure the trustworthy delivery of the donation to help people in need in Jerusalem. Good stewardship practices are to be used in honor of God and applied with accountability. This should safeguard against theft and corruption. God’s desire is that people in need are provided for. God allows us an opportunity to be involved. God cares about integrity in this process.

Isaiah 10:20-34; 11; 12; 13

Our God speaks through the prophet Isaiah about a hope for Israel, a Messiah. As a descendant of David, this “branch” from his tree would bring life, as a “banner of salvation to all the world” and a “fountain of salvation”. They get a preview of salvation offered to the whole world. This is God’s plan. It represents His heart full of love for all people. In this way, each Jesus follower has been “blessed” to “be a blessing” to others by sharing this good news. Each day we can share His love. We will find fulfillment as we serve.
