March 11  Psalm 32  Mark 15:33-47  Leviticus 23; 24

Psalm 32

Let’s turn to God for direction. The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” What has God already said? In what direction is God guiding us? When I confess my wrong, I can find forgiveness and joy in the Lord. My guilt will be removed. This is the path of freedom Psalm 32 sings about.

Mark 15:33-47

Access to a personal relationship with God is possible because Jesus took my sin (all our sin) on Himself. Jesus suffered the pain of God turning His face from him. Jesus was wrongfully put to death so that we can be forgiven. People, who saw the death of Jesus with their own eyes, chose to believe that He is the Son of God Messiah. How did the followers of Jesus feel as they watched His ultimate sacrifice? We should consider this. Also, what caused a Roman officer watching the crucifixion to declare, “This man truly was the Son of God?” It is foolish to walk away from Jesus without considering this. There is something unique about Jesus Christ.

Leviticus 23; 24

In Leviticus, we see that God wanted His children to have weekly, seasonal, and annual times of rest, celebration, worship, thanksgiving and remembering (telling stories of God’s goodness). He instructed them to live out courageous generosity by choosing to live on less of their own resources so that they could bring offerings to the house of God and so that they could give to people in need. They were instructed to regularly bring offerings to the house of God in a heartfelt “Thank You” and with a mind to provide for the practical needs of this natural meeting space.

Please read the suggested passages, prayerfully consider them, and the questions below. My comments here may be helpful after those moments. The suggested daily reading is for the purpose of reading through the whole Bible within a year.

Reading the Bible is helpful in taking the next steps to follow Jesus. It may not be easy and yet it can be rewarding. Digging into Scripture alongside people you know is a life-giving way to pursue answers together. We discover the love that God has for us has been expressed through Jesus.

  • What’s the plain simple truth of the verses you read?
  • Based on today’s reading, what is one thing God is saying to you?
  • What should you do about that truth?
