Praying for Trevor

20 05 2014

September 16 Update: Trevor is still cancer free! Doctors have done another round of scans and do not have an explanation.

June 24 Update: Trevor is now cancer free. After a surgery to remove one lung tumor, the scans now show that the 2nd lesion on his lung (they were unable to get out) has now disappeared! We’re celebrating a miracle!

Thank you for praying in healing for Trevor and strength for his family!

Update: we now have every day covered, with at least one person in fasting & prayer for Trevor’s healing from May 20th – June 12. Thank you everyone!

One of our spiritual family is asking for your prayer.

Trevor Carter asked me to communicate the following to you.Trevor

After a 7 year battle with cancer, the tumors have returned in his lungs. They have a surgery scheduled for June 5th, the day before his 22nd birthday.

Thankfully I was with him today when he was told that after this surgery the doctors no longer have a course of treatment. They now expect the tumors to return and have given him 6 months to 5 years left to live.

He will be looking for experimental treatment. Doctors say that it may delay his death. They are not hopeful.

Trevor came to faith in Jesus last year. Today has been tough, but he’s handling it much better than he did a couple of years ago. He wants to live. He’s growing in faith.

Let’s agree with Trevor in prayer for complete healing! Anything is possible with our God!

His family would also appreciate your prayer: fiance Katie, mom Lisa, sister Caitlyn, brother Teddy, step-dad to be Mike.

Let’s rally around them in prayer. Let’s pray every day from now through a week after this surgery, to June 12th. I would love to have one person fast (go without food for at least one meal) each day between now and June 12th, praying for Trevor’s complete healing.

I will fast and pray tomorrow. Rebecca will fast and pray May 22.

Please let me know what day you would like to take.

Good News! Today as Rebecca helped Trevor’s Mom Lisa tell his 12 year old sister Caitlyn questions about heaven came up. Caitlyn accepted Jesus as her Savior.

I know that praying for healing is new to some of us. Below (and attached) I’m including some Bible verses on the subject. It is very helpful to pray through (say out loud) passages from Scripture when you are praying for something beyond your reach.

Jesus followers were honest with him about their struggle to believe. I encourage you to do the same. Be honest with God about your doubts and ask Him for miracles all the same.

Thank you for being an amazing and generous spiritual family!

We believe that God is real. He is alive. He is willing & able to heal you. Every day God chooses to heal people regardless of their level of faith in Him or their lifestyle. You don’t have to have it all together to receive His healing. Rebecca and I have prayed for people and seen documented medical miracles. We know of churches that have recently seen people being healed of HIV and AIDS! Documented medical miracles! This does not negate the value of doctors. It does not negate your need of Jesus and good family. We will be in prayer!

Faith does help!

  • Hearing the Word initiates faith.
  • Speaking the Word activates faith.
  • Doing the Word demonstrates faith.

“O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you restored my health.” Psalm 30:2 NLT

“The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.” Romans 8:11 NLT

“Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.” Psalm 103:2-3

Praying the Bible brings healing.

“My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.” Proverbs 4:20-22

“The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing.” 1 Corinthians 12:9 NLT

“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.” Proverbs 17:22 NLT

“Stretch out your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” Acts 4:30 NLT

“I am the Lord who heals you.” Exodus 15:26 NLT

He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:3-5 NKJV

Matthew 8, Mark 5, & Luke 13 have great stories of Jesus healing.

Psalm 91 – the whole chapter is well worth reading.
